A new school building for Chalana Vieja
10.05.2026
The new school in Chalana Vieja was now officially inaugurated in a joyful community celebration. Until then, the small village in the department of Tarija in southern Bolivia had only one small classroom and an additional makeshift room for teaching.

Students, teachers, community members, the mayor, and representatives of the foundation all attended the inauguration ceremony. As the number of students continued to grow the construction of a new school building, a joint effort of the County Administration and The Village Foundation, became an essential necessity.
The opening was celebrated with music, traditional dances, and a festive gathering that brought the whole community together. It marked an important step forward to improve the education and future of the village’s children.

The celebration also marked the farewell to our volunteer Konrad. We are grateful for his valuable support in various projects of the Fundación Pueblo during his nine month stay with us in Tarija.
