First harvest in our new School Gardens
18.06.2026
Radishes, lettuce, chard, squash, potatoes, carrots, parsley, tomatoes, peas, and cabbage are among the vegetables that have already been harvested from the school gardens in several rural communities of the Tarija Department in southern Bolivia. Thanks to the implementation of modern irrigation systems, the gardens are now producing their first crops.
This harvest is the result of the joint efforts of students, teachers, parents, and school committees, who actively participated in caring for the gardens. The vegetables will help improve the students’ daily snacks while also providing practical learning opportunities about food production and sustainable agriculture.

Through the coordinated work of Fundación Pueblo, teachers, school committees, parents, and the continuous support of the project technicians, school gardens were successfully established in the schools of Tambo, Suarurito, Tentapiao, Salado Grande, and Chalana Vieja.
During the coming month, school gardens are also expected to be established in Tentaguazú and Chorokepiau, extending the benefits of this initiative to even more students in the region.
