Better Opportunities for Primary School Children in the Bolivian Chaco
13.02.2026
In February, we were able to formally complete two infrastructure projects in the communities of Chorokepiau and Tentapiao in the Chaco region. These projects represent the most visible outcome of our efforts to improve the living and learning conditions of children in these small rural communities. After finishing primary school locally, the students can continue their secondary education at the central school in Tentaguazu. There, they have the opportunity to stay in a “student boarding program with host families,” supported and managed by the Guaraní women of the village.

Previously, the children of Chorokepiau attended classes in a temporary structure that did not provide adequate protection from weather conditions. The new school now includes a multi-grade classroom, a kitchen, sanitary facilities, a water tank, a courtyard, and complete school and sports equipment.

In Tentapiao, a drinking water system that was more than 25 years old underwent a comprehensive rehabilitation. In addition to repairing the water intake, storage tanks, and distribution pipes, the network was expanded so that all families in the community are now connected. Furthermore, households were supported in installing sanitary facilities.
