Two new volunteers from Germany and a visitor from Columbia
Friday October 7th, 2016
Village Foundation receives one or two volunteers from Germany every year. Since the beginning of August, we have been supported enthusiastically by Luisa who puts a great effort into our project “Empowering Migrant Women”. Luisa is originally from Münster in northwestern Germany, the 18 year-old works in the Day Care which we recently started offering. In cooperation with our new team member Maribel, she provides care for the children of our “Future House” participants.
In September, we also welcomed our volunteer for Tarija, Sophia. She is 22 years old and comes from Munich. Within the next year, she will support the implement and expansion of our project “Virtual Boarding School”. She had the opportunity to visit Copacabana, where we inaugurated our student lodging in August. Sophia had the pleasure to be accompanied by Mrs. Maria Elisa Bernal. Mrs. Bernal has been following our project for many years in her role as Social Affairs Officer at CEPAL (United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean). Based on her special encouragement, it has been possible to awaken interest for our Bolivian concept in countries such as Chile, Peru, Mexico, and Columbia. During her visit, she met with local authorities, school representatives, host mothers, scholarship holders and Marlene Morales, Village Foundation’s Coordinator. Mrs. Bernal stated to be convinced of the quality of our program in Copacabana and offers her continue support.
