Official visit to the project “Homestay students” in Uyuni and Capuntia
Sunday August 30th, 2015
(Español) Reunión a Uyuni
On August 20 those responsible for Education and the Legal Advisor of the autonomous government of Llallagua visited the communities of Uyuni and Capuntia. They were accompanied by a journalist from channel 6 of the city of Llallagua in a visit to inspect the management and daily operations of the Fundación Pueblo’s program “Weekly Boarding in Indigenous Families”. The representatives of the Mayor’s Office visited the rooms of the scholarship holders and the coordinators informed them about the daily routine and care provided by the host family in their indigenous homes. Topics of discussion included the meals that the host mothers provide (breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner) and other activities for the students, such as assistance with homework and Pujllana (game time).
This event was rounded off by a subsequent discussion of all those involved in the project. The representatives of the Mayor’s Office, the directors of the “house of new education”, the indigenous authority from Ayllu and the host families and students – all were more than satisfied with the program. Hence the Mayor’s office was requested to provide more financial aid in order to continue the success of the Village Foundation’s program “Weekly Boarding in Indigenous Families” in the towns of Uyuni and Capunita.
We are pleased about this positive feedback and eagerly await further developments!
