Opening of the new Virtual Boarding School in Copacabana

After several months of preparation, we were able to officially inaugurate the new Student lodging in Tarija this month of August. More than 30 children of neighboring communities of the arid highlands of the Department of Tarija have found host community mothers in Copacabana; to home, feed and take care of them during the school week days. This is a way to dramatically reduces the risk of forsake and have poor schoolachievement due to long distances from their home communities, which in some cases are more than two hours.
Yunchará Municipal Government and District Education Authorities attended the ceremony, they will manage this new project with the interagency cooperation agreement with Village Foundation. When cutting the ribbon of the activity area where scholar students will meet after school hours, Yunchará mayor explained the difficult financial situation autarchies municipal are currently facing. She thanked Village Foundation for their effort to mobilize their friends in Germany to avoid having to delay the implementation of this important project .
The Copacabana community and school authorities welcomed Village Foundation. The agreement seeks to gradually transfer the student lodging to the municipality in the next 4 years in a mutual cooperation.
