Getting to School in a National Park

Wednesday March 26th, 2025

It is such a joy to see the amazing beauty of the National Park of Tariquá in the Department of Tarija. Hardly joyful, however, is the way to school for the children of the scattered, little communities in the vast area that extends over have a million acres.  Distances to the main school are long, roads are few and bad, and transport to school is not available. That is what we learned from pupils, parents and teachers when visiting the main school in the community of Pampa Grande recently. Could it be feasible to establish a “Weekly Boarding in Indigenous Families” here, similar to the kind The Village Foundation has helped to set up and operate in various communities in the Department before? Together will everybody involved, we will try to find out with a little study. And, if found feasible, try to muster the help required from our friend here and there to make the dream come true.
