March and Dance for International Women’s Day
Thursday April 4th, 2024
How did the participants in our project against violence and environmental destruction organise International Women’s Day this year? Many of them took part in a demonstration on 8 March, where fellow civil society organisations came together to hold up their voices and placards for women’s rights in El Alto. On the same day, a workshop was offered to all project participants in which women’s rights and ways of asserting them were analysed. The serious part of the workshop ended with “Zumba”, a collective dance exercise in which the women were able to take a break from the stress of everyday life in a city of millions on the outskirts of La Paz that is still characterised by violence and environmental destruction. And obviously had a lot of fun doing it.
