And now the good news …
Sunday February 16th, 2025

News we gather first hand on-site from communities, grass root organizations and the communal administration is the hallmark of our project “public access” to promote informed citizenship in our home county of Yanacachi in the Yungas Region of La Paz. The voices and images of those who move local developments and those affected by them are made public on rural radio and various social media platforms. To that end, our team does not shirk from visiting remote communities in the county. In February, it even climbed up to the small village of Kacapi on the pre-hispanic Takesi-Trail. Numerous tourists do this well-know trail every year, and receive lodging, food and advice in Kacapi. Employment and incomes generated this way in the community are a sustainable alternative to illegal gold mining, which recently has been the frequent subject of the project’s reporting. So, in the end, there is also good news the project can report on.

The most recent news from our projects:
Heading out to the street markets!
Strengthening human rights defenders in the fight against illegal mining
International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
Helping with water supply in Tentaguazu
