International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
Tuesday December 10th, 2024
In Bolivia, according to data provided by the Attorney General’s Office, until October 2nd 2024, 37,449 cases of gender violence, 28,262 cases of domestic violence and 74 femicides had been registered, with the highest number of registered cases in the Department of La Paz, numbering more than 21 cases. On 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we have brought together women’s organisations and collectives to raise our voices, to make visible the cases of violence that go unpunished, to show those in charge of justice at all levels of the State that women’s rights are not negotiable and that the laws must be enforced. The Fundación Pueblo in Bolivia supports and accompanies women who are victims of violence. In doing so, we contribute to improving the situation of women in society and to achieving a life free of violence.
